Oklahoma may feature a new coach in 2017 but many of the same players from last year’s conference championship squad are returning to take the field with Lincoln Riley. The back-to-back defending Big 12 champs featured five players as preseason All-Conference selections.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield, was tagged as the pick for Offensive Player of the Year. Last season, he set the FBS single season pass efficiency rating record with a mark of 196.4 and also led the nation in completion percentage (70.9) and yards per pass attempt (11.1). He threw for 3,965 yards and 40 touchdowns against just eight interceptions.

Joining Mayfield, on the offensive side of the ball, are tight end Mark Andrews and offensive lineman Orlando Brown, who was one of only three players to be an unanimous selection.

Defensively, linebacker Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and cornerback Jordan Thomas were selected, giving the Sooners a total of five selections.
