The votes are in and the Oklahoma Sooners have elected their team captains for the upcoming season. In case you missed the announcement on Friday, Baker Mayfield, Orlando Brown, Steven Parker, and Ogbo Okoronkwo have earned the label of team captains for the duration of the upcoming season. These will be the four faces opponents first see when stepping out onto the field.

Yet a few former Sooners took to twitter to make their voice heard on the verdict. What are those former players saying?
Standout linebacker Rufus Alexander mentioned, “This was one of my proudest accomplishments at OU, because you’re selected by teammates & deemed worthy by coaches to be the leader.” This came just before a congratulatory statement of those selected this year.
Former Sooner and Oklahoma native, J.D. Runnels echoed the sentiment saying, “To this day, OU captain is my proudest sports accomplishment. Proud of each of you.” Clearly, this honor remains at the top of the list for many during their collegiate careers.
The season beings September 2nd!
