Oklahoma’s 2018 recruiting class has now grown to 18 commitment’s thanks to a Saturday pledge from 3-star safety Delarrin Turner-Yell. A product of Hempstead, Texas, Turner-Yell had recently decommited from Baylor (August 17th) causing many to speculated that he was coming north of the Red River to play his college ball.
At 5-10/165 he packs a bigger punch as a defender than you’d imagine, and his 4.45 speed in the 40 makes him a solid cover safety and possibly a factor in the return game. He becomes the third safety commitment in Oklahoma’s 2018 class, joining fellow 3-star prospects Patrick Fields and three-star Jordan Austin.
Turner-Yell is ranked as the 86th prep safety prospect in the country, and the 145 overall prospect in the state of Texas, by 247Sports. He’s received offers from Baylor, Fresno State, Houston, Iowa, Louisiana Tech, Nebraska, SMU, Texas State, Texas-El Paso, and Utah.
247Sports currently has the Sooners with the #9 recruiting class for 2018.
