In just 23 short days, the Thunder will start their 10th season in Oklahoma City. The state of Oklahoma has been very lucky to have the talent and success that has been here over the years.

In nine years, the Thunder have made a Finals appearance, won the Western Conference Finals, and won their division four times. Not to mention the talent that has played in Oklahoma City. The city was blessed to have Kevin Durant for eight years, with Russell Westbrook now taking over the state. After the crazy summer, you can now add Paul George and Carmelo Anthony to that list. Some teams have been around for decades and haven’t seen that much talent.

However, things weren’t always so good in Oklahoma City. The first few years were pretty rough. The team was relocating and trying to define who they were with such young talent. In the Thunder’s first season, they won only 23 games.

P.J. Carlesimo started off as the head coach for the Thunder, but was fired after starting 1-13. Scott Brooks took over the team and had major success doing so. The Thunder would end up more than doubling their winnings the following season with 50.

The Thunder have had their ups and downs since then, but for the most part the team has improved each season. As we head into the 10th year, it looks as if the Thunder will be improved once again. Lots of hard work has been put into this organization. With all the success over the last nine years, fans of this city have so much to be thankful for.
