Trae Young Earns Fifth Big 12 Player of the Week

For the fifth time this season, Trae Young has earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors. On the road against the TCU Horned Frogs, the true freshman turned in a 39 point and 14 assist performance. Behind the effort, the Oklahoma Sooners earned yet another win and their first in conference play.

Over the course of the season, Young has recorded eleven straight games of 20+ points. More impressively, the freshman posted two consecutive games of at least 30 points and 10 assists. The instance marks the first time in the past twenty years that a player has completed the feat.

Continuing to find himself in the National Player of the Year conversation, Young’s knack for the game of basketball has helped his teammates significantly. As mentioned above, this isn’t the first time the true freshman has taken earned a weekly honor and it likely won’t be the last. Too bad the talent level of Young is on par with a one-and-done…
