The weather was perfect in Norman on Friday night as the Sooners opened their series against the Kansas Jayhawks. Also perfect on the night was Oklahoma’s conference record that remained unblemished. A 5-0 win over Kansas moved OU to 10-0 in the Big 12, which equals their best start ever in conference.
Paige Parker improved her season record to 20-1 after throwing 5.2 innings in which she scattered three hits and struck out five batters. Paige Lowary completed the shutout by pitching 1.1 innings of no-hit ball to pick up her sixth save of the season.
The Sooners were slow to develop offensive production but capped off their five-run performance with an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the sixth. Her hit to right field also scored Fale Aviu and Sydney Romero for Oklahoma’s largest run-producing inning of the night.
The second ranked Sooners are riding the nation’s longest winning streak at 27 games and improved their season record to 36-2.
