Late Texas Rally Dooms Oklahoma In Series Opener

The Oklahoma Sooners have pretty much had their way in conference play this year and, for most of the game, Friday night it appeared that would continue against the Texas Longhorns.

A two-run blast to right field by Steele Walker put the Sooners on top 2-1 in the bottom of the third. Oklahoma plated single runs in the fourth through seventh innings to build a 6-3 lead going into the eighth inning but that wouldn’t be enough to stave a Texas rally.

After plating DJ Petrinsky in the eighth, the Longhorns blasted Oklahoma’s pitching staff for three runs off three hits in the ninth to complete the rally and take the series opener 7-6.
The loss dropped the Sooners to 25-12 overall and 8-2 in the Big 12.
