Latest Set Of Polls Make Big 12 Championship A Top 10 Matchup

The latest polls are out and if they’re any indication of the way the playoff committee may be thinking then a berth in the Final Four could be on the line for the Sooners in Arlington on Saturday.

The Sooners moved up a spot to #5 in both the AP and Coaches Polls and Texas, by way of a seven-point win over Kansas, moved up two spots to #9. The moves by the two schools make for a Top 10 matchup in the Big 12 championship game. This is good news for Oklahoma who suddenly has Ohio State breathing down their necks.

Poll

The Buckeyes steamrolled Michigan on Saturday, dropping the Wolverines four spots to #8 in both polls. What this guarantees is that either Oklahoma or Ohio State will get the 4th seed in the playoff, assuming Alabama beats Georgia and the Sooners and Buckeyes both win.

That’s going to create a lot of talk this week about the credentials of both Oklahoma and Ohio State. We’re happy to delve into that talk as well but, for right now, the priority for the Sooners is beating Texas. Without that everything else is in vain.
