Oklahoma State recorded their best win of the young basketball season on Sunday afternoon in the third-place game of the Advocare Invitational. Fresh off a 77-58 loss to Villanova, the Cowboys took the court against #19 LSU.
If Sunday’s game was a measuring stick for OSU’s potential then the sky is the limit. The Cowboys took an early lead, on a Yor Anei dunk, and held it through the majority of the first half. The Tigers were able to go in front when a Kavell Bigby-Williams put them up 35-33 with 3:02 remaining in the half.
OSU took the lead back on a Cameron McGriff three-point shot and ultimately built a 42-37 lead at the half. A 15-2 run to start the second half ballooned Oklahoma State’s lead and the Cowboys never looked back in rout to a 90-77 win.
McGriff led all scorers with 28 points and Lindy Waters added 16 to lead OSU in scoring. Michael Weathers led Oklahoma State’s bench scoring with 12 points.
The Cowboys (4-2) play next at Minnesota on Friday night.
