The Oklahoma Sooners Softball Program earned the No. 4 Ranking in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll despite losing the strengths of Paige Parker and Paige Lowary in the circle. Returning five All-Conference Team Members to anchor a new pitcher, Patty Gasso expects a return to Oklahoma City for the Women’s College World Series. However, without the addition of All-American Pitcher Giselle “G” Juarez through the transfer market, the ranking and the expectation likely differs drastically.

Possessing unrivaled experience on the national level, Shay Knighten and Syndey Romero are officially seniors. Swinging heavy bats, the duo provides a spark on offense with each and every trip to the plate. Joining them, Jocelyn Alo now has a year at the NCAA level under her belt. The NCFA Freshman of the Year set several homerun records during her initial campaign and looks to continue the success. The trio will be leaned on heavily as Oklahoma starts the season with 15 games away from Norman.
Without Kelsey Arnold at shortstop, the Sooners look to Cayleigh Clifton to set the tone defensively. The second baseman consistently shuts down scoring threats while rarely missing a ball hit in her general direction. As a second team All-Conference member, Clifton is also a senior who brings valuable experience.
The season begins February 8th with the GCU Kickoff Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona. Paired with Syracuse in the first of a double-header, Patty Gasso’s program has the potential to go undefeated in the five game tournament.
