Sooners Take Weekend Series At Rice 2-1

Oklahoma Baseball improved to 13-3 on the season after winning Sunday’s rubber match against the Rice Owls.

The Sooners dropped the series opener on Friday night by a final score of 8-1. In that game Rice pitcher Matt Canterino fanned six OU batters and allowed just one run, off two hits, to pick up his first win of the season.

Oklahoma evened the series on Saturday with a 17-8 slug-fest win. After trailing 8-4, the Sooners took control of the game by scoring thirteen runs over the final four innings. Brylie Ware went 4-for-6 with a home run and five RBIs.

Sunday brought no drama as OU pitcher Levi Prater kept the Owls at bay by pitching eight strong innings of shutout ball. Striking out nine batters along the way, Prater allowed just three hits and one base on balls.

Ware once again led Oklahoma’s offense, going three-of-five from the plate and scoring two runs. Brady Linsly hit a three-run bomb, to right field, in the eighth to comfortably put the Sooners on their way to a 6-0 win.

Next up is a Tuesday night battle against UT Arlington. First pitch in Norman and scheduled for 6:30 PM.
