Oklahoma junior forward Kristian Doolittle was named as the recipient of the inaugural Big 12 Most Improved Player Award on Sunday afternoon. He led the Sooners with team-high averages of 13.9 points and 7.8 rebounds to go with 2.1 assists in Big 12 play. He was the only player in the conference to average at least 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in league competition.
Last season he averaged just 2.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in 2017-18 and 7.2 points and 5.8 boards during this season’s non-conference slate.
Doolittle joins Christian James as a Third Team All-Conference selection. James, a senior guard from Houston, Texas, led Oklahoma in scoring with an average of 14.5 points per game. He also contributed 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals per contest.
The All-Big 12 awards are selected by the conference head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.
