In Oklahoma’s series-clinching 6-0 win over Rice on Sunday Levi Prater pitched a career-long eight shutout innings and matching his career high with nine strikeouts. On Monday the sophomore hurler was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.

It marks the third weekly conference honor for the Sooners this season and is the first of Prater’s career. Tyler Hardman (Player of the Week) and Nathan Wiles (Pitcher of the Week) were awarded the honors back on February 25.

A native of Ada, Oklahoma, Prater is 3-1 on the season with a team-low 1.09 ERA. He has recorded 25 strikeouts this year, in 24.2 innings of work, and boast a .198 opponent batting average. Most impressively he has pitched 14 consecutive scoreless innings in his last two starts, both of which resulted in shutout victories for OU.
