The final weekly conference awards are out for Big 12 softball and there are some familiar faces listed.
For the fourth consecutive week Oklahoma’s Giselle “G” Juarez was named Pitcher of the Week and Caleigh Clifton was awarded Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Juarez pitched a one-hit shutout in Saturday’s Bedlam opener. She struck out thirteen batters in Oklahoma’s 3-0 win. Her 13 strikeouts are the most by a Big 12 pitcher in a conference game this season and marked the fifth consecutive game that she’s recorded 10 or more strikeouts.
Tuesday was the sixth time this season that Juarez received the conference honor.
Clifton ranked second in the Big 12 in batting average (.500), on-base percentage (.600) and slugging percentage (1.125) last week. She drove in three runs and scored three runs as the Sooners swept the Cowgirls to finish undefeated in conference play.
