Its no secret that Oklahoma Softball is pretty dang good. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it. The Sooners just became the first team to sweep the Big 12 in back-to-back years but, if you needed further proof of just how good they are then check out the Big 12 postseason awards. Oklahoma swept those too!
Sydney Romero was named Player of the Year, Giselle “G” Juarez was awarded Pitcher of the Year, Caleigh Clifton earned Defensive Player of the Year, Grace Green claimed Freshman of the Year and Patty Gasso was named Coach of the Year. That’s the first time one school has completely swept the awards!
Romero, Juarez, Clifton and Green were joined by senior Fale Aviu and sophomore Jocelyn Alo on the All-Big 12 First Team. The six first-team selections match a program record, tying the 2000 team.
