The Oklahoma Sooners are attempting to address the future of the linebacker position. Knowing the program is currently transitioning to a speed defense, Alex Grinch continues to look for prospects. Finding a prospect in the state of Louisiana, the university extended a scholarship offer to outside linebacker, Edgerring Cooper.
This past season, the budding star recorded 85 total tackles for Covington High School located in Covington, LA. Consistently showing the ability to bring down ball carriers in the backfield, Cooper’s first step offers an advantage more often than not. With great instincts and a nose for the ball, the 2020 recruit appears to be a natural fit for the new Sooner system.
Currently a 3-star defensive player, Cooper holds offers from Oklahoma State, Louisville, and Mississippi State in addition to the most recent from Oklahoma. With eight total interested schools, the number is set to grow heading into a senior year.
