The Oklahoma Sooner Baseball Program received letters of intent from twelve players back in November during the early signing period. A right-handed pitcher by the name of Dane Acker was one member opting to play under the direction of Skip Johnson. However, the equation can quickly change as the 2019 MLB Draft took place just over six months after the signings.
Hearing his name called during the draft process by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 23rd round, Acker now has a decision to make. Ultimately, the pitcher chose to call Norman, Oklahoma home while gaining experience at the Division I level.
Previously spending time at Rice University, Acker tallied up a 5-2 record behind a 4.20 ERA as a freshman. The effort on the field earned the Texas native a spot on the Conference USA All-Freshman team. Despite the early playing time, Acker transferred and explored the JUCO route before ultimately landing at San Jacinto College.
