The Oklahoma State had a lot to prove after a disappointing loss to Texas last week. The Cowboys defeated #24 Kansas State 26-13 at home in convincing fashion in a game that also included a 75 minute weather delay.
The score appears closer than the game actually seemed with OSU controlling the contest from the outset. Oklahoma State played with four men on the defensive line for most of the game which was a pleasant defensive change from a week ago.
The Cowboys go on the road against Texas Tech State next week.
Here are a few key stats from the game:
- OSU held the Wildcats to 244 yards total offense and 126 yards rushing (compared to 226 yards rushing from Texas last week) KSU only had 8 first downs all game.
- Saturday night was Mike Gundy’s 73rd conference win while Chris Klieman is still waiting for his first one at KState.
- Chuba Hubbard earned the current NCAA rushing record for the 2019 season at 296 rushing yards (he also holds the second place record) He had an impressive 84 yard TD run. Chuba was also interestingly the 2nd leading receiver with 2 receptions for 7 yards.
- LD Brown had his most effective game yet with 4 carries for 25 yards.
- Tylan Wallace had 8 receptions on his 11 targets for 145 yards.
- Spencer Sanders went 18/25 for 153 yards/1TD/2INT
- Matt Ammendola was the leading scorer going 4/4 in field goals.
- Tre Sterling led the team in tackles and the defense had one sack.
- Oklahoma State has won 66 consecutive games when holding its opponents to 20 points or less dating all the way back to 2003.
