It turns out that Oklahoma running back Kennedy Brooks was not 100% fine after getting a cheap shot from Texas Tech defensive lineman Eli Howard. After the game Lincoln Riley said that Brooks was okay and could have returned to the game if needed. That statement put OU fans at ease until Saturday when the Sooners showed up in Lawrence, Kansas without Brooks last Saturday.
In absence of Brooks the Sooners still ran the ball 37 times for 268 yards (7.24 YPC) and four touchdowns but his explosive burst wasn’t really duplicated until T.J. Pledger stepped on the field in garbage time, producing 30 yards on three carries.
On Monday Riley said once again that Brooks would be ready to go this coming weekend.
While everyone certainly hopes that truly is the case, you can’t doubt anyone who remains skeptical until the actually see him on the field.
