Over the course of the weekend, a new Heisman winner was crowned. In the wake of the announcement, the odds makers released the current favorites for the 2020 campaign. It just so happens that the Oklahoma State Cowboys’ quarterback, Spencer Sanders, made the cut.

2020 Heisman Odds

Justin Fields +250
Trevor Lawrence +300
Mac Jones +700
Bo Nix +800
Kedon Slovis +1000
Jaylen Waddle +1200
Ja’Marr Chase +1500
Zamir White +2000
Spencer Sanders +2500

Featuring a slew of players from across the country at different positions, the overwhelming majority of the candidates are signal callers. During the 2019 season, Sanders terrorized defenses as a dual-threat player in the backfield. Appearing in 10 games before suffering an injury, the true freshman threw 247 passes while completing 62.8% of those attempts. Connecting with receivers 155 times, Sanders accounted for 2,065 yards of offense through the air along with 16 touchdowns.

On the ground, Sanders carried the ball 137 times. Averaging 4.6 yards per touch, the quarterback remains poised to build upon the number with an additional year on campus. Expected to put on muscle while increasing his knowledge of the offensive scheme, Sanders will be an even more difficult assignment in the future.

For now, odds makers are taking notice of the play making ability of the Cowboys’ quarterback. Can Sanders become the second Heisman winner at the university?
