Rich DeCray

There’s a ton of recruiting information circulating around the Oklahoma Sooners at the moment. From current players looking to explore other options through the transfer portal to numerous offers being received by prospects around the country, the news remains plentiful. Continuing the trend, the program is set to host the nation’s premiere 2020 JUCO defensive end, Deandre Butler out of Independence Community College in Kansas.

In need of talent and depth at nearly every position on the defensive side of the ball, Alex Grinch turned toward the JUCO ranks and secured the commitment of two defensive tackles. Now looking to add a third JUCO defensive lineman to the class, Butler’s forecast currently has the end committing to play for the University of Oklahoma. However, fans will undoubtedly know the future of the prospect on February 5th.

At 6-5, Butler draws the interest of numerous Power 5 schools including the likes of Maryland in the Big 10, Oregon from the PAC-12, and Auburn out of the SEC. Making visits to each of the aforementioned campuses, only one city received a second…Norman. Initially visiting in September, Butler is coming back for seconds this weekend. Will the second impression be enough to earn a commitment and eventual letter of intent?

We’ll have to wait for that information.
