Oklahoma Softball is off to a 4-0 start to the season, winning all four games at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge by a combined score of 27-9. Wins over Nevada, Long Beach State, George Washington, and BYU were enough to move the Sooners up a spot in this week’s National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll.
Strong performances from the pitching circle have been a staple for Patty Gasso’s teams and last weekend was no exception. While ace Giselle “G” Juarez was used sparingly, Shannon Saile took the opportunity to shine bright. The Senior recorded two saves and a win while posting a 0.50 ERA and striking out 24 batters.
Freshman Kinzie Hansen also had a spectacular debut, batting .533 over the weekend with 8 RBI.
Up next for Oklahoma is the Hillenbrand Invitational in Tucson, Arizona Feb. 14-16 where they are scheduled to play five games, including against No. 4 ranked Arizona.
