Holding a slim 63-58 margin with seconds remaining on the clock in the first half, Steven Adams found himself in an unique position. Receiving the ball nearly sixty feet from the rim, the big man turned toward the basket with no defender in sight. That’s when the unexpected occurred in New Orleans against the Pelicans.
Hurling the ball one-handed to the opposite end of the court, the buzzer sounded as all eyes remained trained on the shot. Leaning in an attempt to help direct the arc of the attempt, the ball found the bottom of the net. In a moment of pure elation, Adams turned toward the bench. Giving his teammates a quick shoulder shimmy, Adams celebrated the feat.
The 3-pointer marks the first time in Adams’ career that the big man connected on a shot from beyond the arc in the regular season. Helping propel the team, the Oklahoma City Thunder claimed a 33rd win before the All-Star Break.
