Oklahoma Baseball | Sooners Sweep Friday Double Header

Oklahoma Baseball boosted its winning streak to six games in a row with a double header sweep of Illinois State on Friday. The Sooners now stand at 6-1 on the season with two games remaining in this weekend’s home stand coming in the way of a Saturday double header.

The Sooners plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth and then held on, as the Redbirds got one back in the top of the seventh, for a 2-1 win. Oklahoma’s runs came off the bats of Peyton Graham and Trent Brown who knocked in a run each in the sixth.

Cade Cavalli pitched seven innings to pick up the win. He gave up one run in the seventh but also struck out nine batters. Jaret Godman and Jason Ruffcorn pitched two scoreless innings of relief with Ruffcorn picking up his second save of the season.

In the nightcap sophomore Wyatt Olds fanned nine batters to pick up a win in his first career start. Olds did allow one run but also held Illinois State to just a single hit. Ledgend Smith pitched the seventh and eighth innings, holding the Redbirds to just one hit and striking out three. Ruffcorn picked up his second save of the night and third of the season by pitching a no-hit ninth inning.

Oklahoma was propelled offensively by Graham and Tanner Tredaway who picked up multiple hits each. Graham went 2-for-3 from the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Tredaway was 3-for-4 on the night and blasted a 2-run homer in the bottom of the third to provide the winning score of 4-1.

First pitch for game one on Saturday is scheduled for noon.
