The last time Oklahoma played a top four team they dropped the game before. Grace Lyons and Jocelyn Alo made sure that didn’t happen this weekend before playing #2 Washington.
Senior pitcher Shannon Saile was rocked for an RBI double in the first inning against Seattle. It was the only run Saile would give up on here way to an eight strikeout performance that helped earn her third win of the season (3-1).
The Sooners were limited offensively in the game but Lyons and Alo still provided all that was needed. Lyons lifted a 2-1 pitch over the left field fence to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second. Then Alo went deep to left field an inning later to provide the winning score of 2-1.
Giselle “G” Juarez relieved Saile in the seventh to pitch a no-hit seventh inning an pick up the save.
Up next for the Sooners is #2 Washington in Saturday’s second game.
