Oklahoma is thought to be the leading choice for Plant City, Florida receiver Mario Williams and his Saturday release of his top five schools did nothing to dispel that belief. Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and LSU join Oklahoma on Williams’ list, making the Sooners the only non-SEC school in the running.
In total, 34 schools have offered a scholarship to Williams, making the 4-star prospect (247Sports) one of the top coveted recruits for the 2021 class. At 5-10/165 he has blazed his way to 2,448 receiving yards and 33 touchdowns through his first three seasons of high school ball. 247Sports has his as the #4 receiver prospect in the nation and the #6 overall prospect from the state of Florida.
A quick and shifty receiver, who doesn’t get caught from behind, Williams can also play laterally and has the ability to beat press coverage off the line of scrimmage. He’d be a perfect addition in the slot, or anywhere for that matter, in Lincoln Riley’s offense.
