2020 NFL Draft Profile & Prediction | Defensive Tackle Neville Gallimore

Things really began to click for Neville Gallimore midway though his redshirt freshman season. Starting six of Oklahoma’s final eight games in 2016 Gallimore ended his first collegiate campaign with 40 tackles. Two seasons later he recorded 50 total tackles and then ultimately ended his time in Norman with 148 total tackles and five Big 12 championship rings.

Neville Gallimore’s measurables

Gallimore has a quick burst off the snap and a strong motor that allows him to be disruptive in the backfield and move sideline to sideline quicker than most defensive linemen. He’s also a finisher who will play right up to the whistle.

Strengths

  • Doesn’t take plays off
  • Quick off the snap
  • Active hands
  • Uses spin move to get offensive linemen off balance
  • Has speed to recover and make tackles downfield

Weaknesses

  • Allows blockers to get under him
  • Needs better balance at the point of contact
  • Shedding blocks can be a struggle
  • Can get clumsy once he breaks into the pocket

Draft Prediction

#35 overall pick to the Detroit Lions – The Lions were last in pass defense last season and a guy like Gallimore could help change that trend. It’s hard to protect this position because there are greater needs than defensive tackle across the board for nearly all 32 teams. That could cause him to slip into the third round of the draft.

Cleveland (pick #46), Seattle (pick #60), and Baltimore (pick #63) are also possibilities for Gallimore to be selected in the second round. Should he slip into the third then I like the Las Vegas Raiders to take him with the the 80th overall pick.
