In there was ever a person born to play football it is Kenneth Murray. From day one his drive to succeed has sparked a nearly unstoppable motor. It has help him develop into one of the best linebackers in the country, possessing the perfect combination of size, speed and power.
In 2017 Kenneth Murray recorded 78 tackles (7.5 for loss) as a freshman. His season-long performance was good enough to earn him Freshman All-American honors as well as the Co-Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year. It also set him on a path to greatness that would include 155 tackles in 2018 (third in the FBS) and 17 tackles for loss in 2019 as he became the top linebacker prospect from the Big 12.
Murray is a play-maker who has a knack for getting to the ball. His frame, long arms, and speed are the perfect trifecta for a weak-side linebacker in the NFL where his potential can be maximized.
The Los Angeles Chargers, looking to address needs at linebacker, traded up with New England to select Murray with the 23rd overall pick. L.A. lost Thomas Davis and Jatavis Brown and Denzel Perryman only has one more year remaining on his current contract. That puts Murray as the potential cornerstone of what could be a rebuild of the linebacker corps for the Chargers.
