Five of Oklahoma’s eight 2021 commitments are on the defensive side of the ball. Expect that number to grow by at least one more with a 4-star defensive end next week. Portland, Oregon (Jefferson High School) prospect Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge is set to make his announcement on June 17th but word began to spread on Tuesday that Oklahoma was his choice. The hype even reached the point where 247Sports cast 9 crystal ball predictions regarding him.
When the Sooners first offered him, in February, he stood at 10 scholarship offers. His offer list has grown by five more since then but recently his choice seemed to come down to Oklahoma, Stanford, and Washington State where he is a basketball commit.
At 6-7/240 Rawlins-Kibonge is a two-sport star who has legitimate next-level potential for either sport. He’s only played one season of football but his explosiveness off the edge and pursuit speed made him an immediate star.
247Sports has him rated as the #10 strongside defensive end, and #2 overall prospect from Oregon, for 2021.
