The Sooners landed the ninth commitment for the class of 2021 and sixth on the defensive side of that ball when 4-star defensive end Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge pledged to the crimson and cream on Wednesday. Thought to be a “raw talent” Rawlins-Kibonge was a highly sought after prospect after playing just one season of high school football.
With 15 scholarship offers received, he is ranked by 247Sports as the #10 strong-side defensive end, and the #2 overall prospect from Oregon, for the class of 2021. At 6-7/240 Rawlins-Kibonge is a two-sport star who also has legitimate next-level potential for either sport. He was also a basketball commit to Washington State.
Nathan Rawlings-Kibonge turned down offers from Washington State, Cal, USC, Miami, Tennessee and several others to commit to the Sooners. Of Oklahoma’s six defensive commitments for 2021, four are along the defensive line with three of them being defensive ends. It shows the priority that Alex Grinch and his staff have put on improving at the line of attack.
Rawlings-Kibonge is the third defensive end in the class but the first to play the strong-side or rush end. Ethan Downs (Weatherford, OK) and Clayton Smith (Texarkana, TX) are committed as weak-side defensive ends.
