Christian Leary’s commitment to Alabama on Tuesday night dealt a blow to Oklahoma’s 2021 recruiting class but it was far from being a crushing blow. The Sooners had long be connected with Leary with the assumption that he would be joining top quarterback Caleb Williams in Norman next year with many, including myself, buying in. That’s where his pledge to Bama hurts the most, in the realm of perception, but it really doesn’t change the grand scheme of things.
Oklahoma Got Its Top Receiver Prospect
Did the Sooners want Christian Leary? Absolutely! Did they need Christian Leary? That’s up for debate. Oklahoma has commitments from 4-star receiver Cody Jackson and 5-star receiver Mario Williams. Not only ranked as one of the top receivers for the 2021, Williams was also the number one receiver target for OU during this recruiting cycle.

Destyn Pazon | A 4-star receiver from New Orleans who is most likely going to Florida State.
J. Michael Sturdivant | A 4-star receiver from Flower Mound, Texas who is considering Oklahoma along with Cal, LSU, UCLA, and Arizona.
Malik Nabers | A 4-star receiver from Louisiana who is leaning towards Miami but still considering Oklahoma along with Auburn, Georgia and Mississippi State.
Caleb Johnson | A 3-star receiver from Texas who is considering Oklahoma along with Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M.
