Caleb Williams came to the Elite 11 Finals in Nashville, he saw, and he conquered. You get the feeling like that’s going to be his thing. He was highly motivated to dominate against competition from the best quarterback recruits across the nation and that’s exactly what he did. That is also the mindset that has made him the top quarterback in the 2021 recruiting class as well as one of the most coveted prospects in the nation.
At the close of the event on Wednesday afternoon Williams was selected as the MVP from the talent pool of twenty elite quarterbacks in attendance.
“This was a box I wanted [to check],” Williams told SI All-American of taking home the title. “I wanted to come here last year. I wanted to come win, but you can’t come as a junior. It’s a bit more than this trophy… it meant a lot more.”Sports Illustrated
Even in an altered format that didn’t feature 7-on-7 to drills Williams was able to emerge as the top quarterback in the camp. The 7-on-7 was where he was really expected to separate himself but Williams got off to an incredibly strong start on Monday and then remained in the top group of quarterbacks through Tuesday and Wednesday’s competitions.
Williams is announcing his commitment on Saturday with most experts expecting him to choose the University of Oklahoma.
