Just as quickly as the season has started, the Big 12 kicks off conference play today, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-0) hosts the West Virginia Mountaineers (1-0).
Kickoff: 2:30 PM CT
Location: Boone Pickens Stadium (Stillwater, Oklahoma)
Television: ABC

Setting the Stage
The Cowboys struggled in their season opener a week ago, narrowly surviving the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 16-7. Quarterback Spencer Sanders left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury, and the offense struggled the rest of the way. The defense, however, anchored Oklahoma State, and they slowed Tulsa’s offense enough to help the Cowboys to a victory.
It is still unclear if Spencer Sanders will be taking snaps today, but either way, the Cowboy offense has to be more effective. The defense will be tested more heavily today, so they cannot rely completely on that side of the ball.
West Virginia enters the game having won their season opener 2 weeks ago, a 56-10 thrashing of Eastern Kentucky. The Mountaineers struggled to a 5-7 record a season ago, but they’re already moving towards better days behind the arm of quarterback Jarrett Doege.
West Virginia’s offense appears to have a number of weapons, so the Cowboy defense will get their fill of opportunities to make plays today. The game will likely come down to whoever wins the turnover battle.
