Oklahoma snapped a two-game losing streak on Saturday and in doing so also snapped a two-game streak of not having a player earn a weekly award from the Big 12 Conference. For their part in OU’s epic 53-45 win over Texas T.J. Pledger and David Ugwoegbu were recognized on Monday.
Pledger carried the 22 times 131 yards and two touchdowns (both career highs), and also caught two passes for 24 yards. It was his first career 100-yard rushing game and OU’s first game to have a 100-yard back this season.
Ugwoegbu blocked a punt and recovered it deep in Texas territory to help the Sooners to a second-quarter touchdown. It was OU’s first blocked punt or kick of any kind this season. The sophomore linebacker also registered a career-high six tackles, including two for loss, a sack and a QB hurry.
This marks the first time either player has received a weekly conference award.
