Bob Stoops Won’t Make A Return To The Sidelines After All

The good news that Oklahoma’s coaching staff is starting to get healthy again. The bad news is that means Bob Stoops won’t be needed to fill in when the team takes the field against Baylor on Saturday night.

Oklahoma’s legendary coach had been helping the team prepare for the Bears due to a shortage of coaches as a result of COVID-19 testing and contact tracing. However, Lincoln Riley said on Friday that his former boss wouldn’t be needed for the game.

“Our staff and players are extremely appreciative of Coach Stoops for his time and for the input he provided the last several days as we’ve prepared for tomorrow’s game,” Riley said. “He means so much to our program and we’re very thankful for his willingness to assist during a period of need.”

The idea of Stoops returning to the sideline brought a sense of joy and nostalgia to the hearts of Sooner Nation but the news of coaches returning healthy should be just as exciting.

Oklahoma and Baylor are set for a 7:00 PM kickoff and will be televised nationally by FOX.
