Setting the Stage
Oklahoma State (5-2) survived a close one against Texas Tech (3-6) last week, and today the Cowboys are out on the road as they are set to take on the Texas Christian Horned Frogs (4-4), who are fresh off a 59-23 victory over the Kansas Jayhawks (0-8). The win was their most dominant of the season, which has been very up and down.
The Horned Frogs have been involved in some tight matchups—a 3-point home loss to Iowa State, a 2-point road win over Texas, and a 7-point home loss to Kansas State—and they have played in some blowouts, as well—a 19-point loss at home to Oklahoma, a 10-point win at Baylor, a 16-point home win against Texas Tech, and of course the win over the Jayhawks. Needless to say, TCU has been all over the place this season.
Despite being ranked all season long, the Cowboys are just 2-point favorites over the Horned Frogs today, and perhaps with good reason. Oklahoma State has played 5 games decided by single digits, going 4-1 in those, so that bodes well for the Cowboys on the road today.
The Horned Frogs have not been great at home so far this season, winning just 1 of 4 games, and the Cowboys are 2-1 on the road. When you look at the trends of the season, Oklahoma State has the advantage, but as is typically the case in Big 12 football, anything can happen.
