Garland, Texas running back Camar Wheaton isn’t just one of the top remaining targets for Oklahoma’s 2021 recruiting class. He’s one of the key pieces! The Sooners already have the star quarterback and star receivers but that running back position remains vacant in the 2021 class. That’s why many OU fans were uneasy with Alabama making a strong late push for the 4-star prospect.
Those fans may be able to rest a bit easier now as it appears that thirteen days out from his commitment date Wheaton is still heavily trending towards the Sooners. On Thursday Oklahoma Insider Collin Kennedy cast a crystal ball prediction for Wheaton to commit to the Sooners. It becomes the ninth such prediction for Wheaton, the second in the last three days, and all of them favor him coming to Oklahoma.
A star for Lakeview Centennial High School, Wheaton is the #2 running back prospect for the 2021 class and the #4 overall prospect from the state of Texas according to 247 composite rankings. He has earned 27 total scholarship offers but seems to have narrowed the choice down to Alabama and Oklahoma.
