According to reports on Monday night Oklahoma is expecting to have Kennedy Brooks back in 2021. This is huge news for the Sooners on the same day that junior running back T.J. Pledger announced that he was entering the transfer portal.
Brooks ran for over a thousand yards in each of his first two seasons with Oklahoma and having a running back of that caliber return to the team in 2021 in great news regardless of what current starter Rhamondre Stevenson decides to do. Brooks announced back in August that he was opting out for the 2020 season causing man, including myself, to speculate that we had seen the last of him in Norman. This is definitely one of those times when I am happy to have been wrong.
Brooks’ return to the backfield will help ensure that Oklahoma has a balanced offense next fall by giving Spencer Rattler and a seasoned group of pass catchers an All-American caliber running back.
