Billy Bowman is coming to Oklahoma as a champion. The Denton, Texas star helped lead Denton Ryan High School to it’s first state championship since since 2002 on Friday night at AT&T Stadium. After losing in last year’s title game, the Raiders routed Cedar Park 59-14 to secure the Texas 5A-Division I championship and complete a perfect 15-0 season.

Oklahoma signee Billy Bowman was one of several Denton Ryan players to showcase their skillset on Friday night. Catching a total of 5 passes for 63 yards, Bowman’s biggest play was this 37-yard snag that boosted the score to 24-8 and put the rout into full effect.

“All the years I’ve been on varsity, we came up so short,” Bowman said after the game. ”My freshman and sophomore years, state semifinals. Then last year, we lost in the state game. I just remember everything that went through my head after losing that game.”

The recipient of 32 scholarship offers, Bowman was ranked as the #2 athlete in the 2021 recruiting class and the #4 overall player from the state of Texas. He signed with the Sooners on December 16th as a part of a class that ranks #1 in the Big 12 and #10 nationally per 247Sports.
