After talking extensively about the most recent emoji tweeted out by Lincoln Riley, many hoped it was from the No. 1 recruit in the state of Oklahoma. However, that wasn’t the case. Instead all the mystery was dispelled on Friday when 2022 tight end prospect, Jason Llewellyn, publicly announced his decision via twitter.
A 6-5 receiver, Llewellyn hails from Aledo, Texas where the recruit has helped produce two state titles. Catching the attention of several programs within the region, Llewellyn was believed to be headed to Austin and the Texas Longhorns according to 247Sports crystal ball. However, the equation changed for one reason or another leading to a commitment north of the Red River. While it may come a bit of a surprise, it speaks volumes of Joe Jon Finley, the Sooners tight end coach who joined the staff this offseason.
Extending an offer on February 13th, Finley managed to reel in the prospect in a matter of six days. Labeled as a hard commit, Llewellyn joins five other commits for the 2022 Recruiting Cycle who have verbal pledged their talents to Oklahoma.
