The mystery of the eyeballs has been solved (although there is still another set out there) as Oklahoma landed it’s first 2022 commitment following last weekend’s ChampU BBQ. Littleton, Colorado (Valor Christian Hight School) running back Gavin Sawchuck has long been linked to the Sooners and the 5-11/185 prospect made it official on Tuesday by pledging a commitment.
At 5-11/185, Sawchuck is ranked as the top prospect from the state of Colorado and the #2 running back prospect nationally for the 2022 recruiting class. In an abbreviated 2020 season (7 games) he ran for 1,239 yards and scored 17 rushing touchdowns. A running back with track speed, Sawchuck has received 26 scholarship offers through his first three seasons of high school ball in which he’s racked up 3,690 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns.
Sawchucks commitment to Oklahoma comes after making official visits to USC and Ohio State and just before his scheduled visit to Notre Dame. He becomes the ninth member of a 2022 Oklahoma recruiting class that ranks 5th nationally and #1 in the Big 12.
