There’s still such a long way to go until the class of 2023 signs that it almost isn’t worth getting excited about…almost. With Lincoln Riley fighting to finish in the Top 5 with his 2022 class he now has the overall top class, per 247Sports, for 2023. That status was solidified on Saturday when Los Alamitos, California receiver Makai Lemon announced his commitment to the Sooners.
Lemon becomes the second 5-star commitment for Oklahoma in 2023, joining Los Alamitos teammate, and quarterback, Malachi Nelson. At 6-0/180, Lemon is in possession of 20 scholarship offers with the Sooners beating out Alabama, LSU, Texas, USC, and several others to earn his commitment.
Lemon’s Saturday commitment moved OU into a sizeable lead for the 2023 class rankings. The Sooners have 111.65 points with a class that includes the #2 quarterback, the #3 running back, and the #1 tight end among its four members. Georgia is the current #2 team in the class with 94.10 points.
