Jeff Lebby hasn’t even been officially introduced as Oklahoma’s new offensive coordinator and yet he’s already out on the recruiting trail trying to land a prized quarterback who just so happens to also be a top priority of Florida. Nick Evers, a 4-star prospect from Flower Mound, Texas, Tweeted out on Wednesday that Lebby and tight ends/h-backs coach Joe Jon Finley had stopped by to offer him a scholarship.
Evers, 6-3/188, is ranked by 247Sports as the #8 quarterback, and the #22 overall Texas prospect, for the 2022 class. He possesses 26 scholarships and on Tuesday he decommitted from Florida, a team he had been committed to since March. Among the other teams interested in him are Auburn, Ole Miss, Penn State, and TCU.
In the last two seasons Evers has thrown for 4,958 yards and 44 touchdowns while also running for 894 yards and 18 more scores. Even if Caleb Williams decides to remain with the Sooners recruiting a quarterback for the 2022 class is still a must for Lebby. Even before Spencer Rattler announced his intentions to transfer, Oklahoma had lost Tanner Mordecai and Chandler Morris to the portal before the 2021 season began. That leaves a pretty thing quarterback room, even if Williams is still in it.
