With college football’s early signing period less than a week away things are starting to move pretty quickly on Oklahoma’s recruiting front, especially now that the Sooners have hired Jeff Lebby as offensive coordinator. Flower Mound, Texas quarterback Nick Evers is one example of how fast things are moving. The 4-star prospect went from receiving and Oklahoma scholarship offer on Wednesday, and scheduling an on campus visit for Friday, to having four crystal ball predictions cast on Thursday that he’d be committing to the Sooners.
We first told you about Evers on Wednesday but there’s another guy who we’re starting to see things move fast on and that’s Winter Garden, Florida (West Orange High School) receiver Jayden Gibson. Another recruit that was previously committed to the Gators, Gibson decommitted on December 8th (Wednesday), the same day that Jeff Lebby and the Oklahoma Sooners made him a scholarship offer. On Thursday December 9th 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong would become one of the five recruiting experts to offer a crystal ball prediction that Gibson would end up at Oklahoma.
At 6-5/185, Gibson has outstanding size for a wide receiver. He’s also got good speed and superb hands. His success as a prep was enough to earn 38 scholarship offers from the likes of Arkansas, Miami, Auburn, and Georgia.
Both Evers and Gibson will be making campus visits over the weekend at Oklahoma and then the early signing period begins on Wednesday.
