For the second time in as many weeks the Sooners are adding to their receiver room from the transfer portal. Last week Missouri transfer Javian Hester and now they’re gaining a player from out west. Former Arizona State receiver LV Bunkley-Shelton announced he was joining the OU receiving corps as well.
Bunkley-Shelton had 33 receptions for 418 yards and two touchdowns, as a redshirt freshman, for the Sun Devils last season. A member of the 2020 recruiting class, he was a 4-star recruit when he signed with ASU. His transfer portal destination came down between Oklahoma and Kansas with visits being made to both Lawrence and Norman last week.
“OU just stuck out a little more for me,” Bunkley-Shelton told 247Sports. “They came after me hard right when I went into the portal and made me feel like a priority. I really liked it there, it’s a big time program and I think I’ll fit in really well there.”
Ironically former Oklahoma receiver Cody Jackson announced his transfer to Houston on Wednesday as well. His departure, teamed up with the transfers of Mario Williams and Jadon Haselwood, left a void in the depth of the Sooner receiving corps and Jeff Lebby has used the transfer portal as a key instrument in filing that void.
