Why the Thunder Will Cover (+1)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is out for the Thunder, and LeBron James is out for the Lakers. Take both teams’ best star away, and who has the better squad? The next best player for either roster is Anthony Davis, but as his status has yet to be confirmed, I’m thinking he likely sits this one out. He has played just once this season in the second game of a back-to-back, so it wouldn’t shock me to see him rest tonight. Add to the fact that the Thunder desperately needs a win if they want to stay in the playoff conversation, and I think OKC manages to pull out a win.
Why the Game Will Hit the Over (229)
Both teams are playing in the second game of a back-to-back which likely means either shots won’t fall like they normally would —or— defenses won’t be as intense as they normally are. It’s highly unlikely that both situations take place, so as a result, I’m thinking we see a decent point total regardless, so I’m taking the over on this one.
