Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Needs to Beat Lakers in SEGABABA

OKC and LA are tied in the Western Conference standings right now, along with the Mavericks and the Pelicans. Because of tiebreakers, however, the Lakers are in 9th place while the Thunder is in 11th. With just 9 games left in the season, literally every game is going to change up who is in a playoff spot and who isn’t. While both teams really need to win, the Thunder REALLY needs to win this one. OKC has not been in a “must-win” situation for years, but this meeting probably qualifies. With that in mind, I’m taking OKC to at least cover if not outright win the game as well.

OKC Thunder | Game #74 Preview: Los Angeles Lakers

The Oklahoma City Thunder is 1-1 so far on their West Coast road trip, splitting games with the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday and Thursday night, and now they look to take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. After dropping a 127-105 decision last night, OKC needs to get back on the winning side of things to improve their chances at making the playoffs.

Thunder Against the Spread | OKC Has Chance to Get Back in Win Column Against Lakers

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is out for the Thunder, and LeBron James is out for the Lakers. Take both teams’ best star away, and who has the better squad? The next best player for either roster is Anthony Davis, but as his status has yet to be confirmed, I’m thinking he likely sits this one out. He has played just once this season in the second game of a back-to-back, so it wouldn’t shock me to see him rest tonight. Add to the fact that the Thunder desperately needs a win if they want to stay in the playoff conversation, and I think OKC manages to pull out a win.

OKC Thunder | Game #62 Preview: Los Angeles Lakers

For the second time in three days, the Oklahoma City Thunder dropped a close loss at home to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night. OKC is now 0-4 since returning from the All-Star Break, and the schedule doesn’t get much easier moving forward. On Wednesday night, the Thunder hosts the visiting Los Angeles Lakers in the second game of a back-to-back for both teams.

OKC Thunder | Game #54 Preview: Los Angeles Lakers

The Thunder continues their current road trip Tuesday night as they take on the Los Angeles Lakers. Lebron James is just 25 points away from tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record, but James is listed as questionable tonight, so he may not play. Either way, OKC continues to be without Luguentz Dort, which hurts the Thunder defense in a major way.

Thunder Against the Spread | Even the Lakers Should Be Able to Cover the Spread Against OKC

Make no mistake about it: the Thunder will do pretty much anything at this point to avoid a win, and that could mean another embarrassing blow out. The difference in tonight’s game compared to Wednesday’s meeting with the Utah Jazz is that the Lakers do not care at all at this point, and their key players may not even be on the bench, let alone in the game.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #81: Los Angeles Lakers

The final few days of the regular season is upon, and based on Wednesday night’s 137-101 loss to the Utah Jazz, the Oklahoma City Thunder has figured out how to tank again. That’s a good thing considering that tonight they are taking on the Los Angeles Lakers, who aren’t tanking, but certainly don’t know how to win games right now.

Thunder Against the Spread | Expect Another Close One with the Lakers

The Lakers are stacked with seasoned veterans who can have a big impact on any given night. Lebron James and Russell Westbrook are two difference makers for Los Angeles, but they’re not the X-factor when it comes to playing the Thunder. Anthony Davis has found consistent success against OKC over the years, and he should undoubtedly be the key focus for tonight’s matchup.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #25 Preview: Los Angeles Lakers

The Oklahoma City Thunder is on a two-game winning streak, if you want to call it that, which is a miracle in itself when you consider the 73-point loss that capped an 8-game losing streak. Two consecutive road wins shows a lot of heart, and now the Thunder is back at the Paycom Center to take on the Los Angeles Lakers for the third time already this season.

Thunder Against The Spread | Keep Riding The Under Against The Lakers

There’s only one team that the Thunder has a winning record against with the point spread and that’s the Lakers. As bad as Oklahoma City has been against the spread this season the Lakers have been worse. LA has only covered the spread once at home and just twice on the season. While the Thunder continue to be one of the worst offensive teams in the NBA, the Lakers are 27th is scoring defense. The Thunder beat LA in OKC when LeBron didn’t play and with him absent again tonight you at least have to like OKC to cover tonight.
