It was bound to happen. We finally lost a bet this week. Yesterday we went 2-1 on our bets, which still increased our bankroll to $83.60 for this week, by placing imaginary $10 bets on each line. With the pressure of remaining perfect for the week now off our shoulders, we’re taking our 11-1 record to San Francisco for the Red Sox (55-47) vs. Giants (56-47).
The Pitchers
Boston is putting Kutter Crawford (4-5, 4.04 ERA) on the mound tonight. He’s 3-2 over his last five outings but has only made it to six innings twice during that span. He’s allowing an average of 2.6 runs per game, over the last five appearances, and has fanned 23 batters. In his last start, against the Mets, he allowed four runs in a 5-4 loss.
We covered Logab Webb (8-8, 3.48 ERA) in a game last week. That ended up being a 10-1 loss to the Nationals in which he allowed six earned runs. He’s fanned 35 batters in the last five games, but he’s also only picked up two wins during that span. He’s allowed 3.0 earned runs over the last five games which places him below his season average. He only lasted 1.1 innings in his last start against the Nats.
The Lineups
The Red Sox are powered by Rafael Devers who has hit 25 home runs and knocked in 76 RBI. Masataka Yoshida paces the team with a .316 batting average. Boston has scored an average of six runs per game over the last five.
San Francisco has only scored 13 runs over the last five games. The Giants are led, in scoring, by Wilmer Flores’ (13 HR), . LaMonte Wade Jr. (.269 batting average), and Michael Conforto (51 RBI).
The Streaks
Boston comes into this game riding a 4-game winning streak and the Giants have won two in a row.
The Odds
Giants -1.5
Giants -135 on the moneyline
O/U 7.5
This has been a week of underdogs for us and we’re chasing them again tonight. This is the second time we’ve had Boston as a dog this week and I feel pretty good about them again tonight. The Sox are hot right now so we’ll take them at +1.5, and on the moneyline at +115. I think the run total is spot on at 7.5. The under has been good to us this week so we’ll stick with that.
