Oklahoma Will Add A Second Bowen To The Secondary In 2024

Peyton Bowen’s recruitment may have been a national spectacle, but his younger brother’s went much smoother…at least for Oklahoma. Eli Bowen became the second prep athlete to commit to the Sooners on Thursday, with Andy Bass making his announcement in the morning. The addition of Bass moved OU up one spot to #15 nationally on the 247Sports rankings, and the younger Bowen has yet to be factored into the equation.

Bowen became the 21st member of Oklahoma’s class with his Thursday commitment. The 5-9/165 prospect from Denton, TX (Guyer High School) is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports. He’s listed as the #37 cornerback prospect in the class and the #74 overall prospect from the state of Texas. He has 23 scholarship offers but earlier this month he announced that his decision was going to come down to either the Sooners or the Texas Longhorns.

Jay Valai and Brandon Hall led out in Bowen’s recruitment, fending off the likes of Arkansas, LSU, Oregon, and Texas A&M among others. He made official visits to Oklahoma (June 9) and Texas (June 16) earlier in the summer.

Through two seasons of varsity football, Bowen has recorded 89 tackles, 11 pass breakups, 10 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries, and 2 forced fumbles. He’s returned three of his interceptions and one of his fumble recoveries for scores.
