College football had it’s time to shine last weekend, but now it’s time for the professionals. The 2023 NFL season officially got underway on Thursday night with the Lions defeating the Chiefs, and today brings us a full slate of action from across the league. We’re going to get our NFL prognosticating started for the season by taking a look at Houston and Baltimore.
The Odds
Ravens -9.5
Ravens -450 on the moneyline
O/U 43.5
Why We’re Taking Houston At +9.5
That’s a lot of points in a season opener. Yes, I get that the Texans were terrible last season, but the Ravens weren’t really that special either. Both teams have a lot of questions that need to be answered, on both sides of the ball, as the season gets underway. I don’t see this being a double digit finish for the Ravens.
Why We’re Taking Baltimore On The Moneyline
I don’t question whether the Ravens are the better team or not. My question is, how much better are they? Of course they should win this game, especially in front of the home crowd.
Why We’re Taking The Under
Let’s get back to those questions we mentioned earlier. How good is Odell Beckham Jr. going to be, coming off knee surgery. How good is CJ Stroud going to be? I don’t think we have enough answers to confidently pick a combined score of 44 points or more.
